A Giveaway In Celebration!

This past week was filled to the brim with so many beautiful times, gifts from God on the week of my birthday! David had a few vacation days to use up so he took off work and we spent lots of time together. We played games, ate scrumptious food at Cocina Mexicana,Rachel’s Cafe & Crepery, and at David’s parents house, visited That Fish Place, (see above) window shopped, drank coffee, read books, watched the Olympics, spent a long time at Barnes & Nobles and just had a very relaxing week altogether! On Saturday and Sunday we spent time with my family and some cousins who were in the area and enjoyed a lovely weekend. Today its back to the daily grind. 🙂

So, in celebration and gratefulness of all God’s good gifts to us, I’m giving away a signed copy of the Pioneer Woman’s fabulous cookbook! If you’re not familiar with her recipes you can check out her website for a sampling. This is really more than a cookbook though….its loaded with tons of photos and stories from her life on the ranch.

To enter this contest just answer the following question in the comment section below.

What was the location of your favorite vacation ever?

If you’ve never had a vacation, or are afraid to leave your house, just write “Pick me.” 🙂

Please leave a link to your blog or your email address so I contact you should you win.

I’ll put all the names in a hat one week from today and have my husband pull out the winner.

Good Luck!

  1. First of all, Mary Lou, I’m one of your “silent stalkers”. 🙂 I love reading your blog! As for my favorite vacation-I LOVE vacations so I’m not sure how to choose. For our first anniversary we went to Maine…and had an amazing time. But then this past year for our 7th anniversary we went to Ocean City, MD and had the time of our lives. Guess any time spent away with my family is always a time well spent!! Would love the recipe book!! hoping….

  2. We have had several memorable ones, but I think top of the list was in 03 when we went trekking in Asia with friends for 4 weeks. We will probably never have the chance to do it again and it took us a year to recover financially, but it was worth every penny.Am too cheap to buy the book, so I’m hoping I win it! Shannon

  3. I’m not much of a “tourist-y” type person. I get provoked at the money traps! 🙂 I do love going places and seeing things. One of the places we went on our honeymoon was Prince Edward Island. I want to go back and take in more of those red sandstone beaches! Love them!

  4. I never have vacations anymore, so I have to go back a couple of years to when I went to St Maarten. Three goods friends and sun, sand & shopping. Ahhh. Anyway, I’d LOVE to win the cookbook, so please pick me! Until then (I have great faith despite the fact that I NEVER win these things), I will print recipes from her website. 🙂

  5. AHHH! I AM SO HYPED! Okay, let’s see….

My favorite vacation was technically not a vacation. No intention to brag or anything at all, because it really had nothing to to with me, BUT in April of 2005, 40 kids from my choir went with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra to NYC [the DSO paid for pretty much the whole thing] to perform Orff’s Carmina Burana in Carnegie Hall. For me, it was the fulfillment of a childhood dream. Ever since I was little, my mom had told me about these two amazing places, named Carnegie Hall and Julliard. They were synonymous with Music Heaven. When I got my acceptance letter, I sat on a bed and sighed. So, it was amazing for me, not only because of Carnegie Hall and the coolness that comes with it, but also because that was where I watched Phantom on Broadway in NYC and fell in love with musicals forever. It was lifechanging.

Then my family picked me up a day early and we drove over to New jersey to stay at my aunt’s really stinky house on the dock. Glorious ending. I hate the smell of rotten fish.

  6. i am also one of your “silent stalkers” 🙂 my favorite vacation spot was/still is at my families cabin. I love the smell of the mountain air, lazing around in the creek and most of all having a front row seat to view God’s beautiful creation. Yes, our honeymoon to Jamaica was amazing but there is just something about wild flowers and babbling brookes that is soothing to me.

  7. Sounds like you had an AMAZING birthday week.
    As for my favorite vacation….hmmm.
We’ve had a lot of good ones, but I’ll go with Top Sail Island, NC. I think it’s getting to be more and more fun as the children get older and can enjoy it more.
    Have a splendorific week!!!

  8. I. Want. That. Cookbook.

Favorite vacation. Can’t even remember any I’ve ever taken right now. 🙂

I did enjoy Honduras with you, though I wouldn’t call that a vacation.

    Many hugs.

  9. I would have to say that I totally enjoyed a trip I made with my husband to the Wine Country when we celebrated our 2nd anniversary. I had been through some hard health issues so this was a great relaxation.

  10. Ocean City, MD. Not (!) because of the place, but because of us right then. I’m actually planning to blog about it soon.

  11. Happy Birthday!! Sounds like such a fun week! Wow!!

hmmmm …. I think my favorite vacation must have been the Alaskan cruise (summer time of course) I was on …. but, that was before my honey was part of my life! So, I can’t imagine how awesome it would be WITH him along. It’s a dream I have – – take him to Alaska!

    pick me. pick me!!! =)

thanks for doing this fun drawing!

  12. Oh your week sounds wonderfully relaxing and fun!

Favorite vacation? hmmm…. probably San Diego or the Bahamas. SOMEDAY, I hope I can say Italy! 🙂

and surely you would pick me since I’m your favorite sister-in-law!? (I can say that until June 😉 )

  13. What a fun week you had – sounds lovely!!
My fav vacation had to be either Savannah Georgia (honeymoon) or San Antonio for our 7th anniversary! Want to revisit both of these places sometimes!

I can’t believe I don’t have this cookbook yet – I had bought one for a Christmas exchange in hopes that I would end up with it – but didn’t! ( : So I would be so excited if I happened to win it!

  14. We have never had a real vacation!! But me and my Honey snuck away to town Sunday afternoon for good food and coffee and reading books together at Borders!!!!

  15. Hmm…favorite vacation? Besides our honeymoon to Tennessee which was amazing and so fun, I’d have to say my favorite was a 3 week road trip west that a friend and I took before I was married. We slept in the back of my Explorer, and met lots of friends along the way. Love seeing the country (especially the west). I’ve been a fan of PW for a LONG time and really, really wanted to get to her book signing but couldn’t make it work. Getting the cookbook would be 2nd best! : )

  16. Your fb link made me visit………favorite vacation location? Sarasota, FL. Not my favorite spot for a vacation, but it’s the location where a favorite vacation “went down’! Thanks for the gift giving.

  17. Folly Beach, SC September 2007. We’d just moved into our new house in May (after ENDLESSLY building as DIY’s and having no life) and one week before we left I had a positive pregnancy test after 16 months of secondary infertility. Not to mention, it’s the only true family vacation we’ve ever. We saved secondary income sources for 5 years and oh. was. it. worth. it!!!!!!!! Adam is almost six now (he was 3 1/2 when we went) and he STILL talks about wanting to go to Folly Beach almost every month.

Oh, how I would love to win that cookbook!
